Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 5, 2026
Wilmington Boat Slips ("we," "us," or "our") is a boat slip brokerage based in Wilmington, North Carolina. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit wilmingtonboatslips.com or contact us, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details you submit through our forms, by email, phone or text: your name, email address and phone number.
- What you tell us about your boat and what you are looking for, such as length, preferred marina, budget, timing and whether you own or rent.
- If you sell or rent a slip through us, the details needed to list and close it, such as the marina, slip number, asking price and ownership documents.
- If you give us a testimonial, your name and the words you approve for publication.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, time on page and the site that referred you. We collect this through Google Analytics, loaded by Google Tag Manager.
- Cookies and similar technologies that keep the site working, remember your preferences and measure how the site is used. See Cookies below.
- Our forms use spam protection such as Cloudflare Turnstile or Google reCAPTCHA. These services analyze your browser and interaction to tell people from bots, under Cloudflare's and Google's privacy policies and terms of service.
We do not collect precise GPS location, payment card numbers, or sensitive categories such as health, biometric or government ID data.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiries and provide the slip information, valuations, showings and rental arrangements you ask for.
- To match you with slips as they come to market and to keep in touch while you are buying, selling or renting.
- To send occasional email updates about new listings, sold slips, rentals and marina news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each email or by contacting us.
- To publish testimonials on our website, with your consent.
- To operate, secure and improve the website, including spam prevention and analytics.
- To keep business, tax and transaction records and to comply with legal obligations.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may share it with:
- Marinas and yacht clubs. To arrange a showing, confirm a slip's specifications, check that a boat fits, or complete a sale, lease or sublease, we may pass your name, contact details and boat information to the dock master, marina office or owners' association of the marina involved. Some marinas require buyers and renters to complete their own application or membership process, and they will handle that information under their own policies.
- Other parties to a transaction. Slip owners, buyers, renters, attorneys, lenders and closing agents involved in your transaction, as needed to complete it.
- Service providers. Companies that host the website, deliver email, prevent spam and provide analytics on our behalf, including our web host, Google (Analytics, Tag Manager, Maps, Ads conversion measurement, reCAPTCHA), Cloudflare and SendGrid. We may use other providers for similar purposes without updating this list. They may use your information only to provide those services to us.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect our rights, our clients or the public.
- Business transfers. If Wilmington Boat Slips is sold or merged, client records may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
Cookies
The site uses cookies set by Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to measure traffic, and functional cookies that remember your form entries and preferences. If you reach the site from a Google ad, a Google Ads cookie records whether that visit led to an inquiry so the campaign can be measured; it does not tell us who you are. Marina pages embed Google Maps, which may set its own cookies when the map loads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some features may not. You can also install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. We do not respond to Do Not Track signals because there is no agreed standard for them.
How long we keep information
If you contact us and nothing further comes of it, we keep your inquiry for as long as we are actively working to find you a slip or a buyer, which can be months or years in a market where inventory moves slowly. If you buy, sell or rent through us, we keep the transaction file for as long as the law and our accountants require, typically at least seven years after closing. Email list subscriptions last until you unsubscribe. Website analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months at the user and event level; aggregated statistics that cannot identify you are kept for as long as we use Google Analytics. You can ask us to delete your information sooner (see Your choices).
Security
The website is served over HTTPS, form submissions are protected against automated abuse, and access to client records is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
- Access, correction and deletion. You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will respond within 30 days. We may keep information we are legally required to retain, such as records of a completed transaction.
- Marketing. Unsubscribe from email updates using the link in any message or by emailing us. We will still send messages needed to handle an active inquiry or transaction.
- Testimonials. You may ask us to update or remove a testimonial you gave at any time.
- Cookies. See Cookies above.
To make a request, email [email protected] or write to the address below. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
State privacy rights
Residents of California and other states with consumer privacy laws may have additional rights, including the right to know what personal information we collect and share, to request its deletion, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any of these rights, contact us as described above.
Third-party links
Our site links to third-party websites, such as marina websites, Google Maps and our Google and Facebook pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies.
Children's privacy
Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new revision date, and we will note material changes in our next email update.
